Automated Pavement Construction Inspection Using Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS)—Hot Mixed Asphalt (HMA) Temperature Segregation

چکیده

Temperature segregation in Hot Mixed Asphalt (HMA) pavement construction leads to performance problems, such as reduced fatigue life. During construction, Quality Assurance (QA) inspection procedures are required evaluate the condition and detect segregated areas. In traditional HMA highway processes, temperature differences investigated manually, by sampling behind paver. these inspectors work adjacent traffic alongside moving or backing equipment. These processes do not provide a complete profile of mat, endanger inspectors’ safety, require on-site experienced inspectors. An Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) enables be conducted within remote, non-destructive, safe, efficient framework. The objective this research is design an automated UAS imaging workflow for inspection, mainly locating segregation. primary contribution paper Departments Transportations (DOTs) contractors with workflows creating enhanced remote detailed thermal profiles placed mat. application proposed illustrated using project Michigan.
